Vinted Members Share Frustration Over Sizing Changes

Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.

Online Platforms Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Updates

Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Required Changes

A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
